Juntech Synopsis:

'Juntech' is the fictional pairing between Juno Caheere and Tech, blossoming in the beginning of the Clone Wars and continuing to develop post Order 66. This relationship is an exploration of non-sexual intimacy, aroace relationships and autistic love. Both characters in this pairing identify on the both the aromantic and asexual spectrums, and do not engage in sexual acts.Together, they learn how to navigate a universe not made for them, gradually learn to accept positive touch into their lives, and ultimately grow a deep and fundamental understanding of each other, embracing the others odd rituals and behaviors and creating a loving space for both to share.Juntech aims to portray autistic romance in a hopeful and positive light, with an emphasis on respect, boundaries and mutual understanding of how the other experiences the world.

How they met:

Juno met Tech and the rest of the batch well before Order 66, around a year after their official deployment and long before the introduction of before Echo. The batch were tasked with recovering intel from a hostile separatist base, and Juno was on her way to destroy that intel because it was hers, with it having been stolen from her database in a dealing gone wrong. She wasn't about to let the separatists use her research against her or anyone else. Both teams are storming this base at the same time, just from different angles, so both sides get a hunch pretty quickly they're racing against someone else. This culminates in a very awkward meeting where the two camps hit the control room at the same time and have a tense standoff. Juno establishes very early on she's intent on destroying this panel and everything stored within it, and the batch need that to complete the mission, so they're at a standstill. Tech, especially, really wants this intel, because it identifies a few undiscovered planets that he's not at liberty to visit and he's fascinated by the idea of what's beyond the GARs records.Eventually, they're forced out of the room before they can come to equal ground and have to somehow work together to get out.Even more awkwardly, the inclement weather of the planet forces them all to take shelter in her rickety little ship. Juno is, understandably, not ecstatic with the fact 5 armed super soldiers who had their blasters pointed at her just moments before are now in her home. But Tech is completely enamored with everything inside of the ship. Her spacecraft is packed to the brim with scribblings on the walls, archaic papers with notes written down, mini holotables that display planets he's never seen before and trophies from her expeditions. Eventually, he asks Juno what her occupation is, and thats how they learn she's a scientist.

After some very awkward discussion in her dinky little ship, they come to an agreement. If they can help her repair her ship enough for it to get off of this planet, she'll give them access to the intel they were after in the base. Tech is more than willing to help get her ship up and running, and as he and Juno work together on reviving the vehicle, they discuss a little bit about him and what his story is; Much like Tech, Juno is curiously inclined, and also asks what many would consider 'too many' questions. He doesn't mind.As soon as the weather is safe to travel through again, they take down the base and get ready to head off afterJuno tosses them the datachip. But at this point, both Tech and Juno have figured out they can learn a lot from each other, so they sort of make an arrangement - keep in contact, so they can exchange information and learn more from each other. From this point on, they go from being unofficial penpals to official research partners. They call frequently, give daily updates, send each other intel and coordinates, and at some point, Juno just gives him access to her whole planetary library, on the basis he keep adding to it so they can create a living digital library of information that even the Republic doesn't know about. This is the start to their relationship.

Growing closer:

A few months pass, and at some point, Juno is taken in by the GAR and officially recognized as a registered ally due to how much she's contributed to their intel. This is when she starts visiting Tech in person, and they begin working together directly. She, quite literally, becomes his lab partner. Every other month she'll make the trip down, and Tech will prepare for that whole week prior, talking endlessly about what they'll do and timing the exact moment her ship will dock so he can meet her and they can instantly get to work. They bounce off of each other perfectly. Tech has never had someone engage with him before like this, let alone someone who can keep up with his techno babble and add onto the discussion. Juno, likewise, has never had anyone who wanted her input and was willing to engage with her for hours upon hours on end. This is the first time in 5 years she's felt like she's had a purpose, let alone someone who she begins considering a friend.

Very quickly, they start picking up on things about one another. It's not even intentionally - they're both simply very in tune with little details due to being meticulous people. Juno is very distrusting and a bit prickly; Not in the way crosshair is, but in that she holds herself very defensively, and is very pragmatic and withdrawn. And yet, Tech never pushes her to go beyond her comfort zone or even speak, if she doesn't feel like it, and she opens up to him as they spend more and more time together.Likewise, tech does as well, before he even realizes. He starts getting used to her company in the same room - expecting it, even - so he begins rambling, or humming, even stimming - and he notices she never stops him, or even comments. He exercises odd rituals, but it's never too much for Juno. Juno is endeared by them. To her, it makes him feel more human and more authentic. Tech doesn't even register he's embracing his full self until someone else mentions it to him.Juno also begins to notice things and just wordlessly act on them. She notices Tech really struggles with some of the mess hall food, and rations are okay, but he struggles to eat them sometimes and will just go without food. So, she spends weeks trying to come up with something she can make for him that he can eat consistently, even when he's having off days. Her solution? She literally sorts and makes him custom trail mix that she trialed and errored her way through for months, seeing what he preferred and how he ate so she could provide him something consistent that was sensory-friendly.

Little things become second nature. Tech's eyes get trained on small relics they pass on their GAR-sponsored research trips. She begins picking up trinkets for him on their trips, both as little souvenirs and as things for him to inspect. If words are hard for him? No need to speak. She speaks for him anytime someone enters the room, if he cannot.Tech has noticed things, too. Specifically, the fact that juno is just like him. She has her own rituals and her own personality, but she mimics his mannerisms and his behaviors in a way he's never seen someone do before. Big surprise - they're both autistic. But he also notices that Juno doesn't as freely exercise her mannerisms, and she holds herself back in a way he does around his brothers. So, tech, being straightforward and blunt, encourages her to do the same things he does. He slowly helps her relearn how to stim - he doesn't need to know why she stopped. He doesn't shut her down when she assaults him with 500 questions about the "why" as they're working. He even begins learning mando'a, because he noticed sometimes she'll default to it when she's not comfortable. Instead of grabbing her trinkets on their journeys, he makes them for her, giving her small custom-crafted tokens of affection for her to fiddle with and keep close. He wordlessly brings her food from the mess hall so she can eat in privacy, and he reads up on her culture every night and always asks questions about her boundaries.

It gets to the point where they're literally tethered to each other when they visit. Tech isn't sure at first if he's attached to her, or just to her studies, and Juno is similar. Her clan was heavily against any relationships that weren't professional, even familial ones, so she's not sure what she's feeling or experiencing. They try to rationalize and quantify their relationship into a formula - it's how they were raised, so its all they know. But it very quickly becomes apparent that this is something more, even if they dont know what that means. They start getting physically closer. Tech suggests routine "nap times" to keep up on sleep after nights of work, and they nap together, slowly becoming more close as they get more comfortable. They find their energy and social battery recovers in the company of the other, and are mentally stimulated and far happier. Physical touch becomes something they seek out from another. They talk about anything into the early hours of the morning. They're no longer just "Tech" or "Juno", but are considered a unit by the regs - "Tech and Juno". Gradually, their relationship blossoms into what is obviously romantic to anyone else, but to them, they're none the wiser; they've never experienced this before, or even been allowed to explore this. All Tech knows about romance is from holos, and all Juno knows is... nothing. Her clan forced her only into her studies and nothing else. They have no idea how to navigate this, what is conventionally expected, or what to do. But they're together, right? So its not so scary.

Relationship tidbits:

- A majority of their relationship is spent travelling the galaxy, trying to learn everything that the vast expanse of space has to offer. Post O66, they never settle down, always discovering new planets or fauna and documenting their findings. In many cases, their research on these new and undiscovered planets allows for them to aid in helping set up refugee camps and rebel cells. The constant learning keeps their minds engaged and allows them to do what they love within the company of the person they love.- Tech and Juno have a 'tap-tap' system to alert the other if someone is coming up behind them. That way, they aren't taken off guard and rattled for the rest of the day. This is especially important for Juno, who gets defensive if she's startled.- Both are deeply aware of the others body language and signs, and know if one is experiencing a rough autism day, or is in need of physical contact.- Tech pets Juno's hair to help her fall asleep, and also as a comforting sensory stim.- Their datapads are linked together, so they can contact each other at any time, or access the other.- Juno keeps a bag of the trailmix she made for Tech on her at all times, incase he needs something to eat.- Tech lets Juno play with his hands if she needs something to fidget with that isn't destructive.- Juno made Tech a 90% Beskar Mandalorian helmet that sits atop his bunk in case of emergencies. It's styled after his clone helmet.

- They remain somewhat touch adverse for the remainder of their life to everyone but each other. Once they realize its okay to seek out physical contact from the other and that they both want it, they become very cuddly - though they're definitely not as PDA as a typical could. That doesn't mean PDA doesn't happen, just that its a lot rarer, and you're more likely to encounter it when they are both in a place where they feel fairly safe, which is also rare. That, and it's generally very small gestures, like hand holding. They aim to seem professional to outsiders.

- While Tech uses Mando'a pet names for Juno (I.E Cyare), Juno calls Tech "ner mir'senaar - lit. my smart bird - colloquially "my owl".- They know exactly which bad chemistry puns will make the other laugh hysterically.- Tech and Juno will ask the other questions they already know the answers to, just to hear the other talk about something they enjoy.- Tech was the first person to ever see Juno without her helmet off, and it remained as such for quite a while. It took her even longer to comfortably take it off around him.- Juno and Tech subconsciously help each other establish better habits.- When Tech and Juno have a hard time falling asleep, they play the nerd version of "would you rather" and explain and debate their answers in great detail until they fall asleep.- Tech and Juno both have trouble regulating their temperature and neither of them say anything about it. They both know this about each other and they get cold easily at night, so they cuddle up closer to stay warm.- Juno is a very sentimental person; i.e if you get her something, she'll treasure it forever. Tech ends up making her a trinket that looks like his helmet, one that looks like hers, and one that looks like CD.- They sometimes build faux lightsabers out of scrap and play with them.

- There are definitely days where Juno needs physical grounding/contact but she doesn't know how to communicate that, so she subconsciously starts holding herself - like when you wrap your arms around yourself or always hold your hands together. Nobody would notice this as odd, but Tech would because he has similar days, and during those days he might take her aside and hold her, or make a motion to signal for her to hold his hand so she has something to focus on and touch.- He has those days as well and Juno will do the same for him, where they silently go out of their way to give each other positive physical touch. In Techs case, she takes her gloves off so he can feel her and not just the rubber, or she lets him play with her hair, because they both can be a bit destructive with their hands if they're understimulated.
